Virtual Erotica
Getting off on-line

Nerve. The first internet magazine about sex for men and women. It incorporates prose, fiction, and photographs by the likes of Andres Serrano and Richard Kern that capture more than just flesh. The creators are Rufus Griscom, 29 and Genevieve Field, 27, self-described "garden-variety sex enthusiasts." They met two years ago, fell in love, and quit their publishing jobs to develop Nerve. Their credo is "sex is beautiful and absurd, remarkably fun and reliably trauma-inducing... a subject in need of a fearless, intelligent forum for both genders."

Recent stories have included former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders' defense of masturbation and novelist Rich Moody's ode to his favorite erotic passage. Norman Mailer gave permission to use an out-of-print interview about whorehouses, pornography, and his own sexuality.  The website receives about 900,000 hits a day, proving that there's an audience for what Griscom and Field term "literate smut."

BIBLIOGRAPHIC MOTHER LODE
For Sci-Fi newbies and zealous fans alike, the Alpha Ralpha Boulevard is an... incredible? Superlative? Stupefyingly comprehensive? web site.

Words fail me when it comes to describing the remarkable scope and detail that permeates this bibliographic resource. The creators of the site have put the powers of hypertext to excellent use here - surfers can skip from author to author with the greatest of ease, and a handful of artists are cataloged as well.

The pages of better-known writers include short bios, links, in addition to the listings of published works. A must-have reference for any time you want the poop on the new author who's captured your imagination.

ARTISTS ON ART
This site, Constable.net, has an extensive library of writings by artists and their reflections both on their own art and their theories and ideas relating to the creative process.

The repository can be browsed by artist (mostly European painters of the nineteenth- and twentieth centuries), or chronologically through a timeline which highlights not only the artists who are cited but the other artists of that period. Many of the artists also have one of their major works reproduced here, so that you can visually identify them if you do not know them by name.

The topical index allows you to access a variety of artists' writing according to specific themes, such as Painting Style and Originality. Giff Constable, the editor and creator of the site, has done a wonderful job putting together this useful and engaging assemblage. Those with an interest in recent art history would be well-served by a visit.

CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT:
KinoRevue Magazine: “How do you like Prague, being an admirer of Franz Kafka?”
David Lynch: “I do not like to keep repeating that I love Franz Kafka, because everybody says that. But I truly love him. We had a plan with Frantisek Daniel, to make a film based on Kafka`s story, The Metamorphosis. I’ve even finished the storyboard, but the problem is with the cockroach (In Kafka`s story a man changes into a cockroach). It would have been fine to make it as a mechanical puppet five years ago, but now it would only be possible to do it with computer animation. And that is very expensive. Maybe in another five years the cost will be lower and perhaps than it will be possible to make it. That would be wonderful. www.geocities.com/Hollywood/9843/lynch.htm

YOU DECIDE:
While “Ron’s”castle is not necessarily in Prague, I couldn’t leave this out. “Celebrating the New Millennium the only way we know how: Extravagantly.”- Ron’s Castle Party - www.bluecanvas.com “Bring in the new Millennium at a Castle Party in Bohemia! We are assembling the most fascinating, entertaining, and altogether fun group of people from all over the world.”Held in a baroque Castle built in 1700, located about 45 minutes outside Prague,”Ron continues describing the party, “The Castle looks awesome with lots of atmosphere: to be more precise, it is spacious, has lots of cool frescoes on the ceilings, 30 rooms with 82 beds, including 8 “historic rooms”which look, well, historic. We are renting the entire Castle including: One big room for a lavish New Year’s Eve dinner, One bigger room for the drinking and dancing and general decadence, A number of smaller historic side rooms for more, private decadence.
As for the New Year’s Party itself, we still have to make the whole plan (input welcomed) but I think we will go for a classy look in the beginning with nice outfits for dinner/cocktails before moving on to the more decadent evening attire. An internationally renowned Thai Chef at 7:00 PM in the Castle Dining Hall will cater the party. The idea is to assemble a big, fun group of people and just rock out. In addition to obvious activities such as a lavish dinner, drinking, body shots, dancing, we will be planning some bonus stuff to be determined, possibly including fireworks, belly dancers and, depending on our imagination, who knows what else! The whole aim is to party not only with friends here but more importantly, with friends from our respective homes. He goes on, “BTW, we do need to emphasize that this is a CASTLE party not a fraternity party and people need to take some care with it - no painting faces on statues, vomiting on frescoes, etc.”

The Prague Stringology Club - http://cs.felk.cvut.cz/psc There are many areas that utilize the results of this field (information retrieval, computer vision, chemistry, biology, ... etc.). The Weird-Rock list
The Weird-Rock list was created because there is an extreme lack of support for Christian artists that perform strange music. There are many Christian artists in the music business, but many of them do not get the support many groups get. Radio stations won’t play them a lot because they aren’t in the top 20 most requested or the radio stations don’t think they fit in with the goal of the station. The Christian music scene as a whole doesn’t take these groups seriously. Do you?

The Obscure Reading Room
This is the perfect web site for all those who like to read the stories that don't make it on CNN and onto the pages of USA Today. Formatted in index format, they scour the web with hundreds of readers who compile links to a variety of bizarre and unusual web stories, such as the fate of this poor Florida fellow (19 years old) who was arrested for getting his 17 years old girlfriend pregnant. They were one week away from getting married! This is not stories of the strange, just the real news from around the web.

Troops
Long before the new Star Wars movie began finishing, some enterprising young film students couldn't wait for George Lucas to get to work and decided to take matters into their own hands. Creating a bunch of replica StormTrooper suits, they filmed some 1/2 hour segments titles "TROOPS" and produced a spoof of the popular TV docu-drama "COPS". Following the StormTroopers in their daily routine of dealing with arguments between Jawas and unsatisfied 'droid buyers, fights between bar locals, and just basically patrolling the beat.

Subculture of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a sociology research project investigating the cultic appeal that has developed around this popular midnight movie. http://members.aol.com/maggyblu/rocky1.htm

Webmaster’s Note: "My bachelor’s degree in Sociology required the completion of an in-depth Senior Seminar project. I wanted to do something fun. After spending four years with the cast of Erotic Nightmares in Palo Alto, CA.I was interested in the academic possibilities that lay behind the atmosphere of Rocky Horror. I also had a more juvenile motivation in writing this paper, in that I wanted to prove to my mother that Rocky wasn’t a complete waste of my time if I could manage to turn it into a college degree. Due to the interest expressed by several people involved with the project, and a few people who weren’t involved, I have made the final paper available here."
