From the pen of Mark Haddon comes an interesting debut about a child whose life is grounded on, no, not ice creams and playgrounds, but mathematical equations...
Though his perspective of the world reads too literally (move a poster in his room and he'll be mulling an apocalyptic shift in order), the trappings of his mind are also his blessing - being logical to a fault. Here, he seeks to solve the murder of his neighbour's dog for which he's been wrongfully accused. Though the novel reveals no emotions, emotion underscores the perusal of this novel, exploring a mind at once logically correct but poignantly erroneous. This book is a wondrous insight into the autistic mind.
