Saucy, racy and enjoyable to read, the book hits a raw nerve in some publishers, as the author discovered when Malaika Adero, vice president and senior editor of Atria Books (an imprint of Simon and Schuster) approached him to republish the work. However, her superior the president of Simon and Schuster nixed it. Ms. Adero explained that while she was eager to republish this "well written, resonant book" Judi Curr was opposed. She continued by saying that Judi usually publishes 75% of the books to which she introduces her, but 'Black Passenger' was a book of which she was afraid of.
