This isn't so much a read, as a recipe book at the heart of it. But seriously, everything in it looks so good you just want to try it...

'Food From the Heart: Malaysia's Culinary Heritage' by Dawn TanAnd I never thought I'd be much of a cook; however, a quick glance will show you what I saw: everything can be cut up and tossed into a bowl to simmer, and something decent turns up. I don't even have to stir.

Guys who can't cook for nuts and want to impress a girlfriend, or surprise a wife, you can skip the catering house and try this. And for busy working women who need to entertain the men in their lives, this is not a bad solution.

Besides, it looks rather pretty as a coffee table book. Dawn Tan thoughtfully adds in some tidbits on Malaysian culture and heritage in its food.
